Team Partners with Charitable Organization Helping Heroes to Honor Veterans and Raise Awareness as it Prepares for June 5 Race at Speedway USA in Bolivar, Mo.
The POW-MIA Freedom Car team today announced it will make several stops throughout Missouri to promote the team’s mission, to raise awareness, and to have some fun with the local communities as it prepares for the much-anticipated Veteran’s Day races at Speedway USA in Bolivar, Mo.
Team Johnson Motorsports (TJM) launched the “Freedom Car” in 2010 in honor of all current and former military members, and in remembrance of America’s Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. The car raises awareness of the nearly 82,000 servicemembers still missing or unaccounted for, ensuring we never forget. The alliance was made possible through Tony Galati, CEO of IT Networking and Cyber Security technical college, MyComputerCareer, the Freedom Car’s title corporate sponsor.
In partnership with Helping Heroes (HH) — the charitable organization dedicated to raising awareness for POW-MIA and providing aid, comfort, and material support to veterans, first responders, and their families — TJM and the Freedom Car will make stops at the following locations:
- May 31 (3:30-7pm) Heroes Tastes & Taps grand opening, Branson, Mo (show car appearance)
- June 1 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) – Lowe’s Chevrolet, Waynesville, Mo. (Show car appearance)
- June 1 (2-4 p.m.) – Fort Leonard Wood U.S. Army Training Installation
- June 1 – (4-6 pm) Route 66 Taco, Robert, Mo. (show car appearance and meet and greet)
- June 2 (10am-2pm) – IMAX Entertainment Complex, Branson, Mo (show car appearance)
- June 3 (8-5 pm)– Fort Leonard Wood community service project
- June 5 – TJM will take the checkered flag during Veteran’s Day Racing at Speedway USA!!
Highlighting the week’s exciting — and important — events, the Freedom Car team will dedicate racing on Veteran’s Day to POW service member Walter Dixon of nearby Waynesville, Mo. During each race in 2021 the team has honored a local POW-MIA in the same way, while inviting surviving family members to Freedom Car events and racing to celebrate their fallen relative.
Helping Heroes was established to raise funds and awareness for the relief of poor, distressed, or underprivileged active military service members, veterans of the armed forces, civilian first responders, and their families – and to support the POW-MIA awareness campaign. Every day, these heroes put their lives on the line at home and abroad to protect and preserve the America we love, and HH travels the country to honor and support them through local, regional, and national campaigns. The group also strategically connects with like-minded, cause-driven partners like Team Johnson Motorsports to further promote its mission.
